Writing music with educators

As a full-time music educator, I know what it’s like to rehearse real students in real classrooms. My music is shaped by that reality — playable, flexible, and designed to help ensembles sound confident while still being musically meaningful.

My catalog includes concert band, orchestra, chamber, percussion, and educational works, written for ensembles ranging from beginning students to advanced performers. Many of my works began as conversations with directors looking to create something specific for their students, ensembles, or communities.

What directors are saying

“After months in the making, last night was something special! We got to premiere an excellent new band piece that was commissioned by the Henryville Band to honor the number one HHS supporter, Inez Hardee. In the summer, I reached out to Daniel Dorsett in hopes that someone could help us represent Inez through music, and he knocked it out of the park. ‘Forever Golden’ is not only a fantastic nod to Inez, but also a merited piece of band repertoire. Thank you so much for all your hard work and contributions to make this happen.”
